Therapy is about
the relationships in your life.

Are you lost in one of these relationships, trying to make your way through a sea of emotion? The most important connection of all is your relationship with yourself. In order to have meaningful relationships with others it is important to feel centered. Sometimes parts get splintered off, even forgotten. Over the years, adaptation sets in and eventually, you might find yourself far removed from your natural instincts.

There is a reason Shakespeare said: "To thine own self be true,"
because it all begins with you. Reclaiming a sense of personal agency, or authority, is so often at the heart of therapy.

Perhaps you felt unsupported as a child and created all kinds of unique responses to what was going on. So many of our responses, our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are unconscious, lying below the surface of our awareness or comprehension. As a therapist, I am interested in what swims beneath the surface because if you acknowledge it, your life might transform and follow a new course.

I work with people of all ages, individually, as couples, or as families. While I have my specialties, as listed to the right, I am experienced and able to address a wide variety of concerns.

My approach is primarily client-centered (I recognize your capacity for self direction and forward growth) and strength-based (I look to your inherent assets) with the understanding that an individual is best understood within the context of their family and culture,
however one personally defines such things. I aim to create a relationship based on equanimity, with the belief that the client is the expert of his/her own life. I respond from many different theories with the attitude that one size does not fit all and what is most important is what will work for YOU.

Successful therapy is largely about the relationship that develops between therapist and client. I enjoy working both short and long duration with people. However, my passion is working with individuals in depth, especially those who are facing the second half of life with existential concerns and a desire for personal and spiritual growth.
